Katikati Theatre Inc is an enthusiastic drama group based in Katikati that was formed in March 2010 after thirteen local people, committed to seeing live theatre in the district, gathered together and agreed to start a local drama group.

At the time, the group had no equipment, but have since purchased comfortable seats, lights, curtains, props and an ever-increasing costume collection. In 2016 we purchased two shipping containers and these house our equipment, seats and costumes.

In 2013 Katikati Theatre won the Trustpower Regional Supreme Award which recognises the input by volunteers in the community.

In 2011 the group was a runner up in the Arts and Culture Award for the same Trustpower Regional award.

In August 2018, when Katikati’s new library was opened, the former library building was renamed the Arts Junction. It was refitted as a multi-purpose arts centre with performance space which has become home for Katikati Theatre.

Katikati Theatre welcomes adults of all ages and backgrounds who wish to support live theatre in this community and membership is available for all aged sixteen and over.

From time to time we have roles for children and young people, and we enjoy passing on our enjoyment of theatre and the skills we possess to a younger generation.

Whether you want to act, direct, write, stage manage, assist with sound or lighting, help backstage, help with costumes, hair or makeup, assist with Front or House or just enjoy our productions as an audience member, we would love to hear from you because it is only through great teamwork that all our productions have been so successfully delivered.
